1. Who We Are

Jirani is a mobile marketplace application for neighborhood services, available in Morocco. It is published by Jirani, reachable at: contact@jirani-app.ma.

By using the Jirani application (iOS or Android), you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Account Information

• Email address
• First name, last name, and display name
• Profile photo (avatar)
• Phone number (optional, if you use OTP verification)
• Short biography (optional)

2.2 Location

• Geographic coordinates (latitude / longitude) of your neighborhood
• Geohash (derived from coordinates, used for geospatial searches)
• Neighborhood or city name
• Preferred search radius (in km)

Your exact location is never shared publicly. Only your general neighborhood area is visible to other users.

2.3 Listings

• Title, description, category, and type (offer or request)
• Photos associated with the listing (up to 5 images)
• Approximate location of the listing

2.4 Messages

• Text content of messages exchanged between users
• Images shared within a conversation

2.5 Reviews

• Rating (1 to 5 stars)
• Written comment
• Identifier of the associated listing (optional)

2.6 Notifications

• Push notification token (FCM and/or Expo Push Token) for delivering notifications to your device

2.7 Technical Data

• Device type and version, operating system
• Firebase session identifier
• Anonymized usage data collected via Google Analytics 4 (page views, interactions)

3. How We Use Your Data

• Provide the service: create and manage your account, display and manage your listings, enable messaging between neighbors
• Neighborhood geolocation: display listings and users in your area (geospatial matching via geohash)
• Notifications: inform you of new messages, nearby listings, or activity related to your account
• Reviews and reputation: calculate the average rating and review count on your profile
• Security: detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and non-compliant behavior
• Service improvement: analyze app usage (aggregated and anonymized data)

We never sell your personal data to third parties.

4. Data Sharing with Third Parties

Jirani uses the following services, each subject to its own privacy policy:

These providers act as data processors and are only authorized to use your data for the purpose of providing their services to Jirani.

We may also disclose your data if required by law or to protect our legal rights.

5. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. After account deletion:

• Your personal data (profile, messages, listings) is deleted within 30 days
• Reviews published on other profiles may be retained in anonymized form
• Some data may be retained longer if required by law (accounting obligations, ongoing disputes)

Listings automatically expire after 30 days and are removed from the database.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data:

• Data encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest (Firebase)
• Restrictive Firestore and Firebase Storage access rules (each user accesses only their own data)
• Secure authentication via Firebase Auth
• Data access limited to Jirani team members with a legitimate need

No system is completely foolproof. In the event of a data breach, we will notify you within the applicable legal timeframes.

7. Your Rights

In accordance with Moroccan Law 09-08 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data, you have the following rights:

• Right of access: obtain a copy of your personal data
• Right of rectification: correct inaccurate information from within the app settings
• Right to object: object to the processing of your data
• Right to erasure: request deletion of your account and associated data
• Right to data portability: receive your data in a structured format

To exercise these rights, you can:

• Delete your account directly from the app (Settings → Delete my account)

We will respond to your request within a maximum of 30 days.

8. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The Jirani mobile app does not use cookies. Our website (jirani-app.ma) uses Google Analytics 4, which may set cookies for analytics purposes. You can opt out via your browser settings or by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

9. Children's Privacy

Jirani is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has created an account, please contact us at contact@jirani-app.ma so we can delete the relevant data.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically. For any substantial changes, we will notify you via an in-app notification or by email before the changes take effect.

The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the version currently in force.
